The journey begins
The journey of 10,000 miles begins with the first step... Get in the car & GO!
The willingness to change is often precluded by the discomfort of sameness
Is there any other way?
Leaving Nashville was a bit rough.
Traveling across 5 states made for a long day. Sometimes cruising at 85 mph only lets you get a glimpse.
Then there are hours & miles of the same view. The noise of the city falls away.
We were surprised by how much we enjoyed Kansas City & Northern Missouri
Life is a little slower out here in Nebraska
So many opportunities to make new friends!
Our first stop was Nashville then we turned left.
Sunday was a long day, we covered 5 states and landed in Kansas City, MO.
Monday, we tackled the entire state of Nebraska & made it to Cheyenne, WY.
Tuesday & Wednesday we stayed in Jackson Hole & had a blast discovering Yellowstone Park. Thursday took us to Boise, Idaho. We are headed to Bend Oregon today for two days then Portland here we come...Finally!
We made it and own this town! Three weeks and we are natives, minus the tattoos...but there is still time.

This is not a secret code, these are the 19 states we have drove through, as well as, Canada
* Do NOT let your gas tank get below 1/4 tank in Nebraska
* Always have a supply of toilet paper with you
* Googling is the job of the passenger
* Warning signs are for your safety, not a challenge
* There are really good people everywhere
* Nothing stirs the soul like a long trip (ie: stirs the pot)
* A good traveling companion makes all the difference
* It defies the laws of nature to try to lose weight in Portland
* This is a HUGE country - we covered a small portion driving 8130 miles
* Podcasts are great to pass the time except when you have no cell svc for miles....
* Always be flexible, you may need to change direction unexpectedly
Wonders abound from coast to coast. Driving through the heartland to Yellowstone was worth the ride. Bend Oregon & Crater Lake are some of our favorite finds. Portland has been a wonderful home away from home for 3 weeks. Spending time with Raleigh & Evan has been so much fun! Our next adventure is Seattle and Vancouver, look out Canada, here we come!
We came, we saw, we conquered! Canada was a blast. Driving from Portland to Vancouver was a long day. We loved Vancouver, drove to Whistler & enjoyed the Olympic Village. Shannon Falls in Squamish & the Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver were among our favorite spots. We breezed through Seattle & met Raleigh & Evan in Port Angeles for a Black Ball Ferry ride to Victoria for 4 days. What a wonder that city is!!!
On our way back to Portland we 'swung by' Olympic National Park. Couldn't conquer 1,000,000 acres but we hit the top picks. We went from the heights of the mountain tops with glaciers then to a rain forrest that was covered in moss, driving last to Ruby Beach on the Pacific Coast, however, a heavy fog rolled in giving it an eerie feeling. We couldn't see anything but we heard the crashing waves. The day was filled with Fresh Wonders!
